Make the table feel like a collection

A practical way to pair tablecloths, runners, napkins and placemats.

Table linens are easiest to shop when customers can picture the whole setting. A tablecloth gives the display its base; napkins and placemats help make that look their own. For a retailer, the opportunity is to offer clear combinations without making every piece identical.

Start with one lead design

Choose a tablecloth or runner that expresses the collection. If it has a ruffle, embroidery or a strong check, let the supporting pieces be quieter. If the base is plain, a decorative napkin can carry the character.

Match the mood, not every detail

Use a common color, border treatment or fabric appearance to connect the pieces. A stripe and a botanical motif can sit together when their scale and colors feel balanced. Prepare a few proposed combinations and review them with actual samples before committing to a range.

Keep the size brief clear

Specify the intended table shape and the finished dimensions you want. Explain whether the dimensions include a decorative edge. Ask for proposed tolerances, care instructions and the expected effect of washing. These details belong in the agreed specification rather than being left to interpretation.

Plan how the set will be sold

Decide whether the store needs single pieces, coordinated packs or both. State the quantity of each component per pack and the labeling needed to distinguish sizes and colors. A simple pack structure helps both ordering and display.

Finally, photograph an approved setting and a clear view of each individual item. Buyers need the atmosphere of a finished table and the practical detail of the product they are selecting.
